Dungeon Defenders Empty Dungeon Defenders

I know Shelby is never on here but I just wanted to say that Mr. Coulter is missing out on a most excellent game. I know of his serious allergies to downloadable games or content. Thus he will never know the joy of Dungeon Defenders. Sad

Yes the thought of him missing out on it makes me cry. It's a crime to not get this quality game especially since it's only $15. I'd suggest Mr. Tony get this but it would have to be on his 360 and that would mean no online play. Or he could fork out an additional $300 to get a PS3 Wink

Get it kids. You won't regret it! Surprised

Maybe the community will just have to band together for a “Get Tony a PS3 Fund”. I wouldn’t object to that. [=^)

I’ve actually seen this game on the 360 and downloaded the demo, but haven’t had a chance to try it out. It looks absolutely fantastic though. The art style is gorgeous.

We’ve got to get Shelby over his fear of downloadable games. He’s missing out on a lot of great stuff. [=^)

Yeah... I need to check these forum thing more often huh?

I am just about over this digital distribution thing. I am actually waiting for the next wave of systems to see how Sony and Microsoft handle the generation jump. Once they have proved to me they aren't going to screw me over I will feel better about buying digital games.

What's so special about this game, Gil?

Dungeon Defenders Empty Digital Distribution

Post  Gil Thu Oct 27, 2011 8:49 am

I too am curious to see how the next generation of consoles deals with the digital distribution deallyo. I used to be adversely against DD also but I've kinda gotten over it. I still try to get physical copies over digital versions if available. Sometimes though, there is only the digital version and I'm ok with that. I just hope that these companies keep perfect records cause I'd like to be able to access all my games whenever I want and not have to go through hoops to access them at a later date.

What's so awesome about Dungeon Defenders at least for me is that it mixes 3 of my favorite things in video games...

1. Random Loot Drops a la Diablo II and Borderlands
2. Action RPG - (I know many people don't, but I love level grinding. It's why I love RPGs)
3. Tower Defense

Now these 3 things combined make it a pretty great game but when you throw in the multiplay, it's insane madness fun. It's especially great when all 4 of you are using different classes and using different types of towers to defend. Each players skills and towers meld quite well yet there is still great balance in the game.

Additional bonuses:

1. Pets that you can level. I think the first experience I had with this was Castlevania SOTN. I maxed out all of my familiars. In fact I became so overleveled that I let my pet demon kill dracula by himself. I just stood in the corner eating infinite turkeys.
2. As I mentioned above, Multiplay online and off. Also Drop-in Drop-out gameplay. Uber convenient.
3. Hordes of enemies to shred through kinda like N3 if you have played that. Mayhem! I think with 3 players (me, yoods and his wife kim) we had a wave of about 750 enemies. Quantities ramp up as you have more players. I'm guessing with 4 players on that map, that particular wave would have been 900 enemies or so. Possibly 1000. Awesome fun.
4. Customizable hero classes. You know, stat points to divvy up as you please each level. Also you can re-spec if you have enough cash. Like Borderlands... but much more costly.
5. Only $15 Where I see it could have cost double and I still would have purchased it. A lot of value for minimal cost.

That's about it for now.

Sounds good except the tower defense part. I have never been a big fan of those games. Now infinite turkeys sound like something I can get into!

If this game is digital there is prolly a demo. I'll have to check it out.

I check out some gameplay footage of DD and it looks a little too tower defense for me. I bet it could be fun when played co-op. I guess I need to see if it has a demo or something. How sad is it that I don't even know if PSN has demos of games?

Dungeon Defenders Empty HA Ha!

Yes Dungeon Defenders does have a demo. Definitely on the PSN but i think it also has one on the 360. Not sure. Red Ring of Death took my system so I haven't been on there for a long time.

Tower defense is a good portion of the game so if that's not your thing, that would be a substantial part of the fun taken out of it. Now you could focus on just building a melee character without upgrading your tower skills but that would only do well in multiplayer as a damage dealer. You almost have to build towers to help you defend your crystals but in multiplay, you can let someone else bother with it while you just do the killing.

Feel free to try it out, or not. I still love it though.

You should embrace tower defense Shelby. It is your friend. Trenched, Toy Soldiers and Plants vs. Zombies all want to welcome you to the genre.

I have played several tower defense games in the ast but they never leave a lasting impression. I still give one a shot ever now and then. Nex time I turn on my PS3 I will get the demo and give this one a shot.

Dungeon Defenders Empty Hey Shelby

I just wanted to tell you that it was YOU who mentioned in the Okie Podcast how fun 4 player co-op games are. Dungeon Defenders indeed is a 4 player co-op game and it is much more fun with the full compliment defending your crystal. Just sayin.
