Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Empty Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers

Post  Tony Miller Tue Jan 17, 2012 4:24 pm

I started playing Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers this week. I managed to make it to the first “boss” encounter against Bahamut, which is only a couple of hours in. I’ve now decided I don’t want to play Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers anymore because it’s just not any fun.

I have tried that boss fight about a dozen times now and have spent more time fighting with the camera (which is mapped to the dpad) than I have actually fighting enemies. I’ve found it extremely frustrating to try and move that camera around to get it to where I can actually see anything and target things properly and the motion controls haven’t registered very well in the heat of combat. Having half a dozen guys around you trying to target them with the pointer and flick the controller to pick them up is crazy ridiculous and completely un-fun.

I wanted to like this game a lot because I enjoyed the GameCube and the DS games in the series, but this one just isn’t grabbing me.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Empty Sad Face

Post  Gil Tue Jan 17, 2012 4:27 pm

Sad

Kinda like how I wanted to really like FF XIII but it never really panned out that way. I found it to be more like work than play. Strange that I still got a platinum in it. I guess I was bored enough at the time that even though I didn't enjoy FF XIII, It was less boring than being bored. Something like that.

Yea. I don’t really having a problem baby sitting a camera little bit in a game, but it’s really hard to do on the Wii, and this camera just seems to get in the way more than it’s worth. I messed around with the demo of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and I think it looks like it’s going to be a better game that Final Fantasy XIII was, but I didn’t put a ton of time into the first game, so I’m not the best judge.

The only other camera I had as many problems with recently was the one in Epic Mickey which just made some of the platforming sections unplayable.

And Epic Mickey looked so promising. Would explain why I always see it in a bargain bin or seriously discounted.

Maybe you should write an article about how much you don't like the Crystal Bearers. It worked out so well for Monster Hunter Tri. Razz

Somehow I don’t think a scathing piece about a Final Fantasy spin-off would have quite the same effect as a piece against one of the most popular adventure games of all time. [=^)

But it would be an interesting test.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers Empty I agree...

I came around to buy the game at some point but haven't played it yet. I'd like to know what I'm getting into beforehand even If I already read a few reviews(obviously). The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series is one that is very close to my heart and I've been worried about getting a game of this serie on my 3DS. My girlfriend and I both played both episodes on the DS to death and it was very very good.

At this point, there is no multiplayer dungeon crawler/RPG on the 3DS... That is until "Heroes of Ruin" gets released...
